Terms of Service

Effective October 6, 2026

These terms set out what you may expect from Live Translator and what we ask of you. Opening a room or signing in means you accept them.

What the service is

Live Translator turns speech in one language into live captions in others, shown on the presenter's screen and on audience phones. The free plan includes 30 minutes of live translation per month and Pro includes 10 hours; hours are the only difference between them. Paid subscriptions are handled by Polar as the merchant of record, prices on the pricing page are in US dollars, and invoices and refunds also go through Polar. The service is provided as it stands and will change as it matures.

Your content, your responsibility

You keep every right to what you say and present. You are responsible for having the right to translate and display that material, including any notice or consent your jurisdiction requires from the speakers, and for how exported captions are used afterwards.

Machine translation is not a basis for decisions

Captions are produced in seconds by a model, and they get names, numbers, idioms, accents, and poor audio wrong. Do not rely on captions for legal, medical, financial, or contractual meaning; confirm anything material with a qualified human interpreter.

What you must not do

Do not use the service to break the law, to harass or defame, to translate material you have no right to handle, to probe or overload the room sockets and API routes, or to resell access in a way that implies an endorsement we have not given.

Accounts and sessions

A signed-in session is what links your dashboard, your cloud backups and your monthly quota; Google and email accounts are equivalent here. For signed-in accounts the monthly translation limit (30 minutes on Free, 10 hours on Pro) is measured by our servers and keeps running while a meeting is live: when the quota is used up, caption generation for that account stops even if the meeting has not ended, and it returns when the calendar month rolls over. A Pro subscription follows the events sent by our billing provider, so if the subscription is cancelled or falls past due the limit drops back to the free tier immediately. Anonymous rooms have no account to measure, so no quota applies and their records stay in your browser. You are responsible for safeguarding your password; resetting it invalidates sessions issued before that.

Availability and changes

We try to keep rooms online, but the free plan carries no uptime commitment, features can be added or dropped, and a meeting in progress may be interrupted by things outside our control, including the speech support available in your browser.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and a paying user's total liability cap is the fees actually paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

The date above marks the version of these terms in force for this deployment.
